Avila Beach, CA

Avila Beach has a population of just over 1,600 residents according to the last census. It is located less than two hundred miles from LA and just 200 miles from San Francisco putting it in a prime location. Situated right on San Luis Obispo Bay, residents in Avila Beach you never have to travel far to enjoy the beach.

Since the early 1870s, Avila Beach has served as a commercial port for fisheries as well as an excellent fishing spot for tourists and residents. Cal Polytechnic in San Luis Obispo operates its own pier in Avila Beach for their marine research department. And the pier is where you can go to catch a glimpse of humpback whales live and in person.

If you love the idea of treating yourself, you’ll love the many hot springs and spas in town. Wine connoisseurs and yoga lovers fit right in. There are specialty boutiques, high end restaurants, and your every day casual dining in this small community.
